CosmoQuest was founded in 2012 as a place where people can come together and work on NASA-related science projects, learn the same science we teach our students, and collaborate with scientists in meaningful ways that advance our understanding of the universe.
The science you have the chance to help with is being developed by scientists all over the world. We have partnered directly with NASA missions and other science teams to develop citizen science projects. We’re working with scientists and data from the Lunar and Mars Reconnaissance Orbiters, OSIRIS-REx, Mercury MESSENGER, and other missions to build projects that map the surfaces of rocky worlds (including Earth!) and explore the atmospheres of planets and small bodies the solar system over.
You don’t have to be a genius with a PhD to do science. We provide tutorials with every project that will teach you everything you need to know to contribute. We also offer a variety of educational programs so that you can learn as much as you want about the science you’re aiding.
CosmoQuest is a place to do, to learn, and to collaborate.
Where would you like to explore today?
Funding for this project has historically been provided thru NASA cooperative agreements NNX16AC68A & NNX17AD20A, grants NNX09AD34G & NNX12AB92G, contracts with OSIRIS-REx, Dawn, LRO, MESSENGER, and New Horizons, as well as individual and corporate donations.
We will retain a contract with OSIRIS-Rex after January 1, 2018 and are relying on individual and corporate donations while we seek additional funding.
